General Theme

During the past two years our masterclasses were dedicated to introducing Swiss vineyards and wines to a British audience. This year we are stepping up and are taking the challenge of showing how Swiss wines from two international grapes: Syrah and Merlot, perform in a competitive international environment.

The 1 PM masterclass will be dedicated to Syrah

Syrah, the grape variety who saw the quickest expansion ever in terms of planted surface worldwide. Today a chance to go back to its origines, the Rhône Valley on a perfect vintage, for both France and Swiss part of the region, 2015. The tasting will consist in three flights, a blind tasting that reppresents no contest among the two countries "performances", but simply an opportunity to evaluate the nectars witout being influnced by the label. Looking forward to sharing this excercice with you...

The 4 PM masterclass will be dedicated to Merlot

Merlot, is the second most planted red grape worldwide, often described as "easy" wines and they are also sometimes among the most sought-after crus. Merlot is the third most planted red grape (9%) in Switzerland and in one region in particular: Ticino, located South of the Alps north of Milano. This class provides an opportunity to discover Ticino's complex terroirs through some of its best cuvées, emerging estates and affirmed, iconic producers.
